EFCC TRAILS EDO LIAISON OFFICERS AND OTHER TOP GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

Some officials of Edo state government are reportedly being trailed by the EFCC. The EFCC had received a petition which had caused investigations into the finances of the state government. The petition to the EFCC by concerned Edo state indigenes raised issues of fraud, financial impropriety and pilfering of the resources of Edo people by Obaseki, Shaibu and their agents.
Serious concerns were raised in the petition of how Obaseki /Shaibu Government recklessly spend allocations from the Federal government on monthly basis.

The various local governments in the state were also not spared in the petition. The recently appointed Liaison officers for the various LGAs who were given two hundred million naira (200,000,000)each for grading of roads from which they were to raise huge sums for election have also been alerted for questioning.

The HOS of the local governments were alleged in the petition to be using frivolous sub-heads to siphon the left over of the the Federal allocation for them by the state government.

This is claimed to be responsible for why the impact of the local government administration is not felt in the state. The SOBE farm project which was a conduit pipe to steal Edo people’s resources by the state government was required by the EFCC to put a searchlight on.

This and other several reasons raised in the petition to the EFCC are why the anti-graft agency has opened investigation on Edo state finances. The EFCC operatives are focusing on the SUBEB,the local Government service commission, LGA Liaison Officers, the HOS and engineers of the various local governments.

The constitution and activities of JAAC in the state are also being closely looked into. Letters of invitations for questioning are said to be prepared by the EFCC for Jimoh Ijegbai who once served as commissioner of Local Government, the Accountant -General of the State . Others being invited are the Liaison officers, HOS and engineers of the LGAs.
