Okpella, the home town of Hon Godwin Eshieshi was agog on Saturday 16th April, 2023 as he declares interest to contest the 2023 Etsako Federal House of Representatives seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Hon Eshieshi who made his interest known to his kinsmen and other dignitaries from various parts of Etsako Federal Constituency, at his residence in Okpella, Etsako East LGA of Edo State, reiterated his commitment to offer outstandingly fair and effective representation to Etsako Federal Constituency while highlighting the various strategies he plans to adopt in solving most of the problems bedeviling the people. He expressed worries over the nearly zero attention given to most of the problems affecting the constituency. He cited education, women and youths empowerment, agriculture, security, infrastructure and trade as the basic areas that requires the attention of the legislator representing the constituency. He noted solid mineral exploration as another important area that needs to be given rapt attention, stressing that the mineral resources in Etsako Federal Constituency has not been fully harnessed or exploited due to what he described as the “Legislative negligence” to the prosperity that abounds in mineral exploitation by past and present representatives. In the light of this, he promised to pursue vigorously, the inclusion of Etsako Federal Constituency in the proposed bill for a law to establish Solid Mineral Area Development Commission which is currently before the National Assembly.
The Traditional Head, the most senior Village Head and other personalities in attendance, endorsed Hon Godwin Eshieshi stating that he is the right person to represent Etsako Federal Constituency judging from his laudable political antecedent.
The Okpella most senior Village Head and the Traditional Head of Okpella offered their blessings to Hon Godwin Eshieshi by breaking the kola nut while also expressing their confidence in the better representation Etsako Federal Constituency stands to get with Hon Eshieshi in the green chamber.
