EDONORTH 2023: BETWEEN ENDURING DOCILITY OR REWARDING TRUE REPRESENTATION
Representative democracy in its realest sense isn’t about offering representation alone, but by making the voices of the represented being heard and respected at all times.
Over the years Edo North has been a senatorial district without a representative, much like a man with a body and no soul in it, the one who claims to speak for the people has become as quiet as a sepulchre. While other representatives speak for their people, the current senator from Edo North appears to have struck a viable understanding with muteness, by choosing to defend his title as chairman senate committee on Observation and Redundancy, the very definition of an ‘I and Nay’ protagonist.
The future of Edo North would be defined in the long term by what decisions we make in February 2023. Should we continue to tolerate the armchair legislator or rather elect a vibrant representative who encapsulates the ideals of being a true representative?
Should we continue to bear with a broken record whose records of achievements are no were to be found?
The time for a paradigm shift is now, only people oriented representatives should be allowed to lead the people. It’s about that time and we need the right man.
A man who understands the fact that a true representative is one whose only mandate in leadership is to represent his people and not impose his will. A man who lives simply by the political code of conduct, that a man’s word is his bond. A man who can unite all of Edo North people, be they poor or rich, be they free or oppressed, be they privileged or underprivileged behind shared values of love, peace and culture and without discrimination or prejudice.
The time to elect that man is now.
