There are strong indications that the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District,Senator Francis Alimikhena will soon announce his withdrawal from the 2023 Senatorial race.
According to a close source to the Senator who did not want his name in print, said, the decision of the senator to quit the race was influenced by the negative reports from his field workers concerning his third term bid.
According to the source,there is a strong possibility that the Senator will soon announce he is stepping down from the race.
It was also gathered that almost all the top Edo North APC leaders and Executives of Wards and LGA’s the senator and his agents have directly or remotely reached out about his aspiration are against the third term bid.
The senator is said to be well agitated that he has no solid footing in both his ward and the local government.
The leaders agreed that Senator Alimikhena tried his best, but advised him not to breach the agreement he reached with the leaders of the Party in 2015 where he pleaded with them to ,at least,give him one chance at the senate so that he can be addressed as a Senator in his lifetime.
