The Proposed Edo North Airport; A Misplaced Priority or Blessing.

I am constrained to add my voice to the debate of whether or not an Airport in Edo North is viable. Let me State without any fear of contradiction, that an Airport in Edo North is both economically viable as well as an absolute necessity.

I do not expect His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, to return home after his tenure without ensuring that the project receive the desired attention of his Administration. This must be his legacy to his People.

I am not Governor Obaseki’s fan on many fronts but he has my unsolicited support for this project. The proposed Airport in Edo North will be a most welcome development and i fully support Obaseki on this.

For those ignorant Aviation Experts who consider the Airport project a misplaced priority. Let me educate you a little. Edo North is home to several Federal and State institutions such as the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State University, Uzairue and several others. In addition and most importantly is the litany of several World Class Industries that host a lot of Foreign Expatriates. Notably, Okpella Cement Plc (a subsidiary of the Dangote Group), one of the biggest Cement Manufacturing Giants in Africa. BUA Cement Plc and a lot of other Chemical Industries.

Citing an Airport in Edo North will help attract more Industries in the Senatorial District because of several other economic minerals, Kaolin, Limestone, Bauxite, etc etc.

It may not be cost effective in the short term but will certainly help to shore up revenue for the State in the long run as the “Cowtry” continues to experience dwindling revenue. If this Airport comes to fruition, Obaseki may just earn one more accolade from one of his most ardent Critic.

I may even forgive HE, Philip Shuaibu for his many misadventures lol.
