Godwin Eshieshi: His Politics, His Achievements
Godwin Eshieshi’s administration while he was the Local Government council chairman of Etsako East was loaded with activities.
Eshieshi commenced the electrification projects in communities that did not have electricity in the following communities in Etsako East during his tenure as chairman; Ogute, Imiagbese, Ogriga in Okpella, Imiegba, Itsukwi, Imiakebu in 3 Ibie, singlehandedly removed them from darkness.
And when Hon Godwin Eshieshi came out roaring it was obvious to every body that the change has come. As a matter of fact it was easy for him to acclimatize to the system because majority of the people of the Local Government were already tired of the domineering nature of the opposite party in the politics of the Local Government particularly with the crisis that rocked the party in the area.
However, there is no doubt that as the Eshieshi’s administration clocks two years Etsako East that was once famed as an ancient Local Government was modernized. True to his words, Eshieshie commenced building of healthcare centres at Iviukwe Community.
Recall that, in his acceptance speech at the Local Government Secretariat, Eshieshi vowed to judiciously utilize the Local Government resources in revamping the decayed infrastructure he met on ground, particularly in the areas of healthcare centres, education, flood and erosion control.
Before his coming, the people of the Local Government suffered in the areas of infrastructures and other basic amenities of life and that was the secret behind the success of Hon Godwin Esheshi at the polls.
Having seen the problems confronting the local government, Eshieshi decided to set up an economic team with a view to holistically solving the problems. It took about six months before the people of the state started feeling the impact of governance in the local government and as a result he received notable awards from those who lauds.
The truth of the matter is that the Local Government has not seen such a transformation since the second republic but Eshieshi reposition the local government for the people to feel the impacts of good governance.
This is why he remains the candidate to beat comes 2023 Etsako Federal constituency as the whole constituency needs him at this very moment to turn things around for good.
