A Message of Gratitude
On behalf of the LGA Executives, we wish to express our profound gratitude to the general public and our dedicated party members. Your unwavering belief in the party and the current LGA Exco leadership was clearly demonstrated in the recently concluded Congresses. We are honored that most executives were returned unopposed across the Ward, LGA, and State levels. Thank you for finding us worthy to lead.
On the Issue of Party Supremacy
We must state categorically: In party politics, the Party is supreme. It is important to clarify that the State Chapter has not yet directed LGA Chapters to establish zoning positions. Therefore, any independent actions taken regarding zoning at this time are premature and invalid.
Regarding the Unauthorized “Zoning Committee”
The party has sighted a document circulating on social media, purportedly signed by a “Zoning Committee.” Please be advised:
Unknown Entity: This committee is entirely unknown to the official party structure.
A Right, Not a Privilege: Forming such a committee is the exclusive constitutional duty of the Party leadership.
Timing: We have just emerged from Congresses. This is a season for mending fences and building unity, not for creating a tensed atmosphere through unauthorized declarations.
Addressing Misleading Claims
The document in question contains fundamental errors regarding party governance:
Office of the SLG: The appointment of the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) is the statutory right of the sitting Chairman, not a privilege to be “zoned” by an external group.
Disrespect to the Mandate: Suggesting the zoning of a Chairman’s seat when the occupant has been in office for less than a month is an attempt to ridicule the democratic process.
Final Warning
We urge all leaders to caution their emotions. The activities of this self-styled committee are clearly anti-party activities capable of sowing disunity. We call on all party faithfuls and the general public to disregard this document entirely. It is worthless and holds no official weight.
